TECHNOLOGY FOR THE FUTURE

Technology is one of our main focuses at St. Ignatius.  What would technology be without a vision?  That vision is created with the help of our Technology Committee.  The Technology Committee is a panel of volunteers, parents, and staff who help direct the progressive path of our technology in the classroom.

Through our own St. Ignatius Intranet, students beginning in grade 2 have the ability to save their work in the Google cloud.  They are then able to work on projects in the lab, in the classroom, or at home.

Our technology lab is fully equipped for an entire classroom, including access to thirty individual computer towers. We do not teach technology in isolation, we integrate it into the regular curriculum.  Our programs are progressive with each grade level and build upon the knowledge from the year before. Beginning with Prek-4, students visit the lab on a weekly basis.

Kindergarten is equipped with an iPad station, which they share among their classrooms, as well as brand new interactive touch boards.   We have always been driven by technology advancement to enhance our learning.  With the generous support of our annual fundraiser, Impala Gala, we can now proudly say each classroom starting with First Grade through Fifth Grade is completely equipped with iPads and Chromebooks for individual student use.  Sixth to Eighth Grade is assigned their own iPad, which they have the ability to travel with from class to class.  They have also have access to a Chromebook station set up in the Junior High building as well.  We also utilize Dynamic Fields Sound Systems for each classroom that elevates ambient sound and magnifies the teacher’s voice.  Each classroom from PreK-3 and up is equipped with a Smart Board/Promethean Board, a 3D document camera, and an Apple TV.  All classroom teachers are equipped with their own laptop and apple iPad as well.  Just this year, both Prek-4 classrooms were upgraded to brand new state-of-the-art ViewSonic interactive touch boards.
